Pietro Motisi | Cemento

Text by Sam Laughlin - photographs by Pietro Motisi

In
an unforgiving landscape the land is not forgiven, instead the concrete spreads like a plague. In place of the Gattopardo came a new roar, of machines churning material for landscape crimes. The shape of Sicily is now molded in concrete. In a map of images forms are set and order given to a chaos of flux, in each location the land bears the weight of man’s impact and strains under the effort. The map is a mirror, showing Sicily a face it can no longer see through cemented eyes.
